The large wooden hotel in the city of Almere is being constructed and will be finished this summer. Two years after the first idea of the hotel project arose, hundreds of people will sleep in this particular timber hotel structure.
Four years ago Mirck Architecture designed the Timber Restaurant on this location. The CLT structure opened in 2020, but after multiple lockdowns the owners decided to change the function of the building. The large restaurant space was suddenly out of fashion.
In 2021 Mirck Architecture was asked to examine other functions for the building and plot. Fortunately, the site offered a lot of opportunities and after the research the hotel function was chosen. Two new wings could be added to the old volume.
During the successful design and permission phase, a timber contractor was found. November 11 the building permission was granted and immediately the construction started. The completion is expected in the summer of 2023.
